What I love about this picture is that, unusually, it shows a kind of underside view. Have you notice how most Earth pictures (like the one in my site header) show a topside view of the planet, with sky above and Earth below?
As a resident of a 'down under' country (New Zealand) I know that people in the important countries above the equator always think of me and my countrymen as 'below'. We are also seen as distant and far away from where the action is. A photo like this shows that words like 'far', 'distant', and 'below' have no meaning now. Every place on the planet is as real and present as any other place. Adjusting our mindsets to accept new realities is a crucial aspect of the development of big blue thinking.
